Literature can Give the Clearest Idea of What a Nation is Like

Category: Reflections

A Bulgarian invasion, that's how Bulgarian literary critics called the Bulgarian participation in the book fair in the city of Caen in Normandy this year. Four Bulgarian books published recently in France have been shown to the public - "Mission London" by Alec Popov, "Natural Novel" by Georgi Gospodinov, "The mothers" by Theodora Dimova and "Passion or Alice's Death" by Emilia Dvoryanova, all translated by Marie Vrinat-Nikolov. Usually books by Bulgarian authors do not have easy access to the international book market.

Svetlana Dicheva from the Bulgarian National Radio asked Emilia Dvoryanova to give her impressions of the book fair and the difficulties faced by Bulgarian books abroad.
