There is a small, picturesque historical village in North-Hungary, in the Börzsöny Mountains. Nagybörzsöny is only 85 kms from the capital, Budapest. Originally it was a center of iron and gold-mining inhabited by German settlers. The village is hidden in the mountains but it is good to come here for hiking, travelling on the narrow-gauge train, which starts in the end of the village and there are several cultural attractions in the settlement. Among them the Szent István Church from the early 13th century, the wooden water-mill and the Miner’s Church. With our guide, Bóna Dániel, we went to this church.
