Croatian Museum Documentation Center celebrates 50 years of its establishment, (26 September – 14 October 2005, Zagreb, Croatia)

Owing to the visionary intellectual dr. Antun Bauer, who was the founder of Museum Documentation Center (MDC), Croatia was one of the first in Europe to establish a central institution for the advancement of museum activities. It was founded in 1955 in Zagreb, and since then it has been a core institution for documenting and promoting museum activities and for the popularization of museums, galleries and art collections. The main activity of the MDC is the collection of documents: Registry of Croatian museums and galleries, collection of microfilms on inventoried books, collections and archival materials on museum and gallery activities. Regular and periodical publications: Informatica Museologica, Museology, Guide Through the Museums and Galleries of Croatia, Bulletin on the computerization of museum activities, new acquisitions, reports of Zagreb museums and other publications.
