The Month of Architecture is organized for the forth time in Hungary in October. During the 4 weeks 128 events are hold on 13 towns and 63 places. The final conference is organized on the Moholy-Nagy University of Art where prominent architects from all over the world, Manuelle Gautrand, Erick van Egeraat, Hani Rashid, give lectures about the question of the Month: “Are the skyscrapers coming?!”

The first Month of Architecture was organized by the OCTOGON architecture & design in 2003. Their aim was to establish a fest, series of events for the architecture which is an important part of our everyday life and culture. This month give a chance to the audience to get closer to the architecture, get more information and it is an opportunity for debates and discussions. Most of the events are free of charge.

There are interesting exhibitions, guided tours in towns and buildings, presentations among the programmes. As it happened last year the Month of Architecture has a center point, in this year this is the Hungarian Contemporary Architecture Centre in Budapest.

The key issue in this year is the question of skyscrapers according to the everyday debates of Hungarian architects. Do we love them or not? Do we let them to be built or not? Where do they be? Skyscrapers aren’t allowed to be built in the capital of Hungary until this day but in accord with the change of society many architects are convinced it is high time to have new and higher buildings in Budapest as well. So the events of the Month of Architecture are about up-to-date questions which can help people to understand better the built world around them.
