“I’ve got a Golden Palm, I’ve got a golden Oscar, but I’ve got only a Silver Bear,” Polish film director told us tongue-in-cheek just before receiving a Golden Bear, his lifetime achievement award, at the 56th International Film Festival in Berlin. “This award is of importance also for some other reason: we have not been lucky at the Berlin Festival, in comparison to other events. Just a few Polish films have been noticed here. Perhaps this award will make a good start for the coming years,” Wajda added.
The Berlin Golden Bear will join other awards displayed at Collegium Maius of Jagiellonian University in Kraków. The award was handed on February 15th in Berlin.
